Member Services for National Christian Schools in Europe

NATIONAL CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS are defined as schools outside North America, which are established to provide a Christian school education for children in their home country.

ACSI WORLD REPORT – This quarterly newsletter is produced by the ACSI Office of International Ministries and sent to all member schools. ACSI World Report covers topical and developmental issues such as the integration of faith and learning and the selection of curriculum materials. Professionals and noted educators in the field of Christian education, as well as ACSI staff, submit articles for publication. It includes a devotional thought, news items about schools internationally, conferences around the world, and updates concerning services offered to member schools. We would like to encourage you to contribute articles or newsworthy information.

CHRISTIAN SCHOOL EDUCATION (CSE) – This journal is published five times per year and is circulated to all member schools. CSE includes professional articles and reports of current developments in the worldwide family of ACSI schools.

REGIONAL CONFERENCES – ACSI co-sponsors, with local organizations, both national and regional conferences for Christian teachers in Europe on an annual or biannual basis. Conference themes and workshop topics may include, but are not limited to:

  • integration of biblical truth in every subject area
  • discipline and classroom management
  • distinctives of Christian school education
  • curriculum development
  • effective teaching methods
Annual conferences for school leaders are also available on a national basis with themes that may include: “how to formulate and implement a Christian philosophy of education”, “Christian school management” and “board relations, policies and responsibilities”.

PUBLICATIONS
– The ACSI Europe office in Budapest seeks to publish and distribute National Newsletters to Christian teachers in the various countries on a quarterly basis. This is to enhance communications among Christian teachers and schools, and offer articles of professional interest. Professional materials and resource books are being published in various languages and made available to the teachers.

SCHOOL EVALUATIONS – Member schools may have an ACSI team of consultants visit their school for an objective external evaluation, offering recommendations for school improvement. Reports are kept confidential and intended solely for the benefit of the school involved.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM – If suitable arrangements can be made, a school director may be invited to a Christian school in another country for a period of time for general observation. The host director may then return the visit. Out of this, a partnership relationship may develop that could benefit both schools.

TEACHER TRAINING – Member schools will receive priority consideration for teacher training seminars planned by ACSI personnel, on a national or regional basis. Teacher In-Service Training for specific needs may be available for your school or city, upon request and as time permits. The Summer Institutes offer formal training in educational philosophy, biblical integration and curriculum development. These institutes are made available every other year on a national basis.

SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
– Member schools are committed to grow in quality, seeking to improve services and maturing as truly “Christian schools”. The ACSI staff is prepared to assist the faculty and staff of each of the member schools through a process of school improvement, with a self-study, school evaluation and in-service training. This program has the potential of providing official ACSI accreditation, recognized for quality education in many countries.

SCHOLARSHIPS – Scholarship assistance is provided to a limited number of international educators to attend the International Institute for Christian School Educators at Columbia International University, Columbia, South Carolina, USA, each July. Scholarship assistance must be requested as funds are limited. Travel expenses to the Institute are the responsibility of the individual.

ACSI DIRECTORY – National schools whose membership is approved by November will receive a copy of a directory of the Europe Region containing the school’s profile. The profiles of all international member schools outside the U.S.A. are also included in a special International Schools section of the ACSI Directory of Schools and Colleges.

SPECIAL ASSISTANCE – Each year ACSI seeks to provide assistance and relief to Christian schools which are facing critical needs due to a natural disaster, political or civil unrest or other causes beyond their control. Requests should be made as quickly as possible, clearly stating the need. The funds available for this kind of help are limited. These services also provide opportunities for schools to participate in helping schools in other countries.

STUDENT SERVICES – Annual Student Leadership Conferences bring students from Christian schools in Europe together for inspiration, encouragement and motivation in fulfilling their responsibilities as Christian leaders in their schools. National Music Fests and Athletic competitions are examples of student programs sponsored by ACSI in order to encourage quality performance and provide opportunities for inter-school activities.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS AND SERVICES:
Member schools receive a discount on ACSI publications.
An annual membership certificate suitable for framing is sent to each school.
Professional consultant services are available to member schools.
The ACSI Web page includes a profile of member schools along with current developments.

These services are provided to ACSI Member Schools through the office of International Ministries.

However, a major benefit of ACSI membership is to be a part of its Mission and Vision
as schools encourage one another towards spiritual and academic excellence.
